Privacy Policy · Effective 3 September 2026
We do not collect anything about you.
That is the whole policy in one sentence. Everything below explains exactly what that means, what the two narrow exceptions are, and what rights you have regardless.
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no advertising pixels, and asks you for no personal information. There is no contact form, no newsletter signup, and no account to create.
That is also why you were not shown a cookie banner: there is nothing here to consent to. You can verify this yourself — see Cookies & Tracking.
Who this policy is from
This site is operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME] (“we”, “us”), which markets the short-term rental known as The Redwood River Estate in Redway, Humboldt County, California. Postal address: [MAILING ADDRESS]. Questions and requests: jacobdown3y@gmail.com.
What is actually processed when you visit
One thing, and it is unavoidable for any website: our hosting provider records a standard server log so the site can be delivered and protected from abuse.
| Data | Why | Basis & retention |
|---|---|---|
| IP address, browser user-agent, requested URL, timestamp, response status | Serving the page, diagnosing errors, and blocking abuse and denial-of-service traffic | Legitimate interests in operating and securing the site (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Held briefly by our host and not used to build any profile of you. |
These logs are generated and held by Vercel Inc., our hosting provider, acting as our processor. We do not export them, cross-reference them, or attempt to identify you from them.
What we deliberately do not do
- We set no cookies and write nothing to your browser's local or session storage.
- We run no analytics — no Google Analytics, no heatmaps, no session recording.
- We run no advertising or conversion pixels, and no cross-site tracking of any kind.
- We do not fingerprint your device.
- We never sell or share personal information, under any definition, including the broad ones in California law.
- We host our own fonts, so that simply loading this page does not disclose your IP address to Google or any other font provider — a request most websites make without telling you.
Third parties, and the one you control
- Vercel — hosting. Receives the server-log data described above. See Vercel's privacy notice.
- OpenStreetMap — the location map. This is the only third-party content on the site, and it does not load until you click to load it. If you never click, OpenStreetMap never learns you were here. If you do click, your IP address and browser details go to the OpenStreetMap Foundation under their privacy policy.
- Airbnb — every booking link leaves this site. Once you are on Airbnb, Airbnb's privacy policy and cookies govern, not ours. We have no visibility into what you do there.
If you book a stay
Bookings do not happen on this website. They happen on Airbnb, which acts as the merchant and collects your booking and payment information under its own terms. After a reservation is confirmed, Airbnb passes us the limited guest details we need to host you — typically your name, the dates, the guest count, and a messaging channel. We also require a signed rental agreement and liability waiver before arrival. We use that information solely to provide the stay and to meet the record-keeping obligations attached to the property's short-term rental permit, and we retain it only as long as those obligations require.
Your rights in California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access and delete it, to correct it, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information — and to not be treated worse for exercising any of these.
In practice: through this website, the only category we handle is identifiers, in the narrow form of an IP address in a server log. We do not sell or share personal information and have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do not collect sensitive personal information through this site, and we do not use personal information for automated decision-making or profiling. Because California's “Shine the Light” law concerns disclosures for third-party direct marketing, and we make none, there is nothing to report under it.
To make a request, email jacobdown3y@gmail.com. We will verify your request by replying to the address you write from and, where a request concerns booking records, by matching it against the reservation. An authorised agent may act for you with written permission. We respond within 45 days and will tell you if we need the permitted extension.
Your rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to withdraw consent where processing rests on consent — which here applies only to loading the map.
Our lawful basis for server logging is legitimate interests, balanced against your rights: the data is minimal, held briefly, and never used to identify or profile you. This site is operated from the United States and hosted on infrastructure there, so a visit from Europe involves an international transfer; the only data transferred is the server-log data described above. You may complain to your national supervisory authority, and we would rather you told us first at jacobdown3y@gmail.com.
Children
This is a holiday-rental listing intended for adults booking travel. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 — nor, given that we collect nothing through the site at all, is there a realistic route by which we could. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served exclusively over HTTPS and is a set of static files with no database, no login, and no user-submitted content — which removes most of the ways a website leaks personal data. No system is perfectly secure, but there is very little here to compromise.
Changes
If we change what this site does with data — for example by adding analytics — we will update this page and move its effective date before the change goes live, not after. Material changes will be flagged plainly at the top of this page.
